Dubya, Dad, and Dating (Part 1) was the first part of a two-episode story arc which served as the Season 3 opening of George Lopez; the episode, which was also the 29th overall series episode.

Written by Rick Nyholm, the episode, directed by John Pasquin originally aired on ABC-TV on September 26, 2003 George unknowingly commits a felony while awaiting President Bush's arrival at the factory, resulting in the Secret Service paying a visit to his home.

George is clearly devoted to his wife, Angie, and their children, Max and Carmen, but his live-in, insensitive, difficult mother makes things complicated.

This is what happened: A Christian girl named Tara leads a perfectly normal life; loving family, great group of friends, Harry Potter books to enjoy, and a massive love of butter.

Minutes later, estranged dad Manny, who pressed charges on George for puching him in his Phoenix office, Comes to L.

A., visiting him at the police station holding cell and talks to him about why he left, as he drops the charges.

When she asks her mother about it, her mother says that they were out of the regular butter they usually get, so she got the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" original version. She kills her dog, stops going to church (saying that she converted to Satanism), and starts talking in unintelligible textspeak.

In the meantime, Benny drops a bomb on George about the new man in her life.

Everything becomes a mess when president George Bush comes to speak at the factory: Benny has started dating a younger man without telling George, Carmen disrupts the president's speech, and George steals the speech, which results in the Secret Service paying a trip to his home.

Assembly-line worker and family man George (comic George Lopez) is promoted to manage an airplane parts factory in Los Angeles.

While in the holding cell, when Officer Hope (Teddy Lane Jr.) announces that a "Lopez" made bail, he thinks it's he -- until a transvestite -- a "Mrs.

Lopez" responds when Officer Hope calls for "her", as "she" gives George some "sage advice" on his situation -- that he didn't need any more "unresolved issues" in his life, as "she's" released.
